The poultry company Putnu Fabrika Kekava(PFK) received a „Zaļā karotīte” (“Green spoon“) certificate. This confirms that the fresh poultry products “Kekava” are produced in Latvia using local raw materials and meet high quality standards.
PFK is the first company in the segment of manufacturers of meat products, to whom sertificate “Green spoon” was given. There was a special event held in Putnu Fabrika Kekava to mark the receipt of the “Green spoon“. Sertificate was officially presented to the company during the visit of the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Janis Duklavs.
“This is the Latvian quality certificate that could open the door to the HoReCa segment, which is the second largest buyer after the retail network in Latvia. This was accomplished even before company modernisation,”- said the Chairman of the Board of the company Andrius Pranckevičius.
It is planned that Putnu Fabrika Kekava will receive equipment for poultry slaughterhouse and primary meat processing in the first quarter of the next year, while Lielzeltini will receive processed production line in the second or third quarter. Upon receipt of the equipment, it will be installed soon.
Moreover, Putnu Fabrika Kekava expects to get the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification and start selling products to the Swedish supermarkets. Almost all retailers in Europe require BRC certificate: it is required in any supermarket in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany.
It is planned to allocate 9.5 million euros for modernization of Putnu Fabrika Kekava by the middle of 2016, and to invest 2.5 million euros for Lielzeltini upgrade. Swedbank branch in Latvia has provided 11.39 million euros loan to upgrade the companies.
